Although our company was founded in 2013, our internationalisation roots go back to 2004. Our co-founder, Viktorija Macdonald, studied marketing because she loved the power of smart advertising, both visual and written, which helped to increase sales and build long term relations between customers and brands.
At the age of 17, she was 2nd in short story writing in Lithuania; at the age of 24, she won the Lithuanian fashion photography awards with WOMAN magazine, but neither photography or writing got her where she wanted to be in post Soviet Lithuania. Having worked on a number of international EU funded projects, she learned how to develop new ideas into tangible projects and make them attractive to funding bodies.
Project ideas and development work was not always credited to her and eventually she started developing her own projects and getting very good at it. Once having moved to Scotland and once EU funding dried out, she decided to create a company for whisky export, which would allow her to practice all that she learned from international projects.
The aim of the business was to help Scottish distilleries to develop new markets where they lacked resources or local knowledge, and do it in an honest and transparent way. And instead of focusing on growing their company, their number one focus was to grow their clients and provide a value added to Scottish whisky industry.
